Lactobacillus sakei K040706 activates NO, TNF-α production expressed in activated immune cells.
Lactobacillus sakei K040706 promotes immune response by activating IKK-α phosphorylation.
The immune-enhancing response is induced by stimulation of TLR2 by K040706.

Macrophage Activation Mechanism
Enhancement of immunity
Spleen index of negative control (Immunosuppression alone-treated) were significantly reduced as compared with controls.
Spleen index of K040706_L and K040706_H were increased versus negative control.
Maintenance of intestinal microbial balance
Lactobacillus ratio of negative control(Immunosuppression alonetreated) were significantly reduced as compared with control.
Lactobacillus ratio of K040706_L and K040706_H were significantly increased versus negative control.
Prevention of gastrointestinal infection
Negative control (DSS treatment induced acute colitis) were increased DAI values as compared with control.
Treatment of K040706_H significantly reduced DAI values versus negative control.
Positive control (5-ASA treatment) had similar suppressive effects.
DSS-induced colon tissue injury was associated with a partial destruction of the epithelial architecture.
The evaluation of colons from the K040706-treated group with DSS revealed a significant reduction in crypts epithelium distortion and inflammatory cellular infiltration compared to DSS group.
Prevention of gastrointestinal infection
Negative control (Influenza virus injection) were 10% survival rate after 14 days.
Treatment of K040706_H were 50% survival rate after 14 days.
